Driving

I don't like to drive. I'm horrible with directions. I would much rather ride in the back and watch a movie with the kids. That being said, from now on, if I go anywhere with any of my friends (you know who you are) I'M DRIVING!!! I'm the only one who hasn't been in a terrible accident in the last few years. Actually, I haven't had so much as a speeding ticket in the last 10 years. Guess that's just the way it has to be.

On a side note, babies like cars. She watched the rear windshield wiper for a long time and laughed today. She likes the movement, and generally falls asleep. I wish all our car seats could be as comfy as a babies. Too bad my moose will need a bigger seat soon. They are less comfy as they get bigger.

6 months

Can you believe Sophia's 6 months old today? Time flies. She's getting so big. She eats real people food, rolls around, and looks more and more like a big girl every day. Also, have I mentioned she is living up to her "Godzilla" name? she's in 12 month clothes. She goes to the Dr. on Monday so we'll see how big she really is, but I'm sure it's over 90%. It's crazy how fast it goes. Next year at this time she will be walking, and talking. I think her first words are going to be Trevor, NO! though she does find him hilarious at the moment.

Sick Days

So, I've been sick all week. I didn't call into work because we're super busy. I've suffered through it. And today, on the one day I really wanted to go to work, my sitter is stick. I guess I now know the beauty of organized daycare, they can't call in sick. Sure, you pay more, but there is not call at 6:30 and a scramble to search for someone to come in, only to realize everyone you know has a JOB. So, I'm home. Eric has some fancy meeting he needs to be at all week, so even though it's his turn, and I'm missing my super fun lunch (that might be a stretch) I'm home. I'm surprisingly not mad at him, I knew he had this meeting, but still I'm a little salty this morning. I like spending the day with the kiddles, but I've already emailed into work with the things I was supposed to accomplish today and I'm sure I'll come up with more. What to do with a completely free day, hmmmm. Why don't they just let you bring your kids to work. You'd think a day with me and a baby is better than me not being there at all. She sleeps.

Wisconsin

Ever tried to convince someone from California that Wisconsin is a better place to live. All anyone can come up with is that we have 4 seasons. In the end you kind of end up lying. I'm not sure that I convinced my brother-in-law's girlfriend, but I tried. Her mom told her to have fun, but not too much fun before she left. Though she has lived out of her state once, so maybe there is hope. EXCEPT she lived in Hawaii. We're doomed. I see a lot of Disneyland in our future. Argh!

We're old

Every once in a while it really hits me that I'm getting old. Trev's so smart and self sufficient. Soph's eating real people food (if you can call rice cereal that) and our 10 year reunions are this year. I do feel better that I'm not turning 30 this year like Chief AND I'm not even close to turning 40 like Sergio. I forget he's that much older than me. I am also reminded that we were so close to having our kid out of the house when we were 40 and now we're going to be closer to 50, but that's okay. In reality we'll be pretty young to have all the kids out. Especially since we're some of the only ones with kids. We'll have tons of time when we have more money, which will lead to lots of traveling which I'm looking forward to. See, everyone should have kids when they are in college. . . or not.

Trivia

I'm excited for Trivia this year. I think we'll have a much better system. I'm hoping for good weather for the stones. I was bummed it was canceled last year. We need to get more people, with different age groups. This is my plug for you all to come play. I'm not sure how to recruit more people exactly. It really, in theory, sounds like a horrible weekend, but it's not. Come, bring your friends, bring your family, bring your friend's family. Go Loonery!

Half Day

The downside: I have to work on Saturday
The upside: I LOVE having a half day off work during the week. In the past it wasn't that great since T was in school anyway, but now it means a half day of baby time. We went shopping today. It was a very girl thing to do. Now we're watching Max and Ruby (an awful kids show) but it's just background noise. It's rare to get mommy/baby alone time, so we eat it up. She's at such a fun age. Anyway . . . back to the baby.

WICKED Awesome

I love musicals. Put a play to music and I'm in. We've seen Wicked 2 times now, and both were very good BUT I have to say that the front row is definitely the way to go if you are able to spend the money. I've seen 2 shows from row now, and I'm a little spoiled. There is something to be said for being able to see the people actually act with the expressions on their face. Don't get me wrong, it was good either way. You miss a little of the artistic vision in the front. You have to focus on one part of the stage rather than the whole show, but it's worth it. I guess my friends weren't nuts for getting those tickets after all. :) It was worth the money.

A Note To All The Teachers Out There: When you bring your kids on a field trip, CONTROL THEM. The people in the front row paid GOOD money for their seats and they don't want kids standing in their way staring at the orchestra for the entire intermission. Other than that, a good night.
